CRACK MAGAZINE (2025)

In collaboration with MPB, Crack Magazine commissioned Jock Thomson to produce a new photo essay documenting Glasgow’s underground queer nightlife. Supported by a £1,000 grant and access to photographic equipment from MPB, the series was photographed across DRIP, Scandal, and Ponyboy.

Drawing on Thomson’s longstanding involvement in Glasgow’s queer nightlife, both as a photographer and co-founder of DRIP, the series captures the people and fleeting encounters that give these spaces their character. Shot from within the community, the photographs move between portraits, performance, desire, and tender moments of connection, celebrating the messiness and joy of queer collective experience.

Published by Crack Magazine, the accompanying feature considers queer nightlife as both a space for self-expression and an important part of Glasgow’s cultural memory, highlighting the DIY ethos of the artists, performers, DJs, organisers, and partygoers who sustain the city’s underground scene.
